CEBU CITY, Feb 27 (PIA) -- The
search is on for modern day Jose Rizals in the country.
In an advisory sent to the Philippine Information Agency 7 (PIA), the Regional Development Council 7 (RDC) announced the start for this year’s search for “Mga Bagong Rizal: Pag-asa ng Bayan.”
The RDC was tasked to facilitate the regional searches beginning January to April 1.
Short listing of nominees is until Easter Monday, April 15.
There will be 35 young people from all over the Philippines who will be proclaimed winners and will be entitled to a fruitful leadership seminar and prizes.
They will also take an oath to model their lives after the principles espoused by Dr. Jose Rizal and to serve as exemplars of the Filipino youth.
Nominees will come from grade three to college level in public or private school, vocational course and even out-of-school youths.
The nominees should also belong to the top five percentile of the class or has been recognized for their outstanding ability or excellence in one or more of the multiple intelligences.
These should be supported through awards and certifications.
Out-of-school youths should belong to the top five in the last class attended.
Also, at the time of nomination, he or she must have an existing project or is actively involved in an activity that shows concern for others as well as commitment to school, community, regional and national goals through documented involvement in projects.
The nominee must have also shown exemplary behavior, conduct, values, and interpersonal relationship skills.
Leadership potentials will also be considered as nominees must be willing to perform duties and obligations attendant to being chosen as Bagong Rizal 2013.
RDC said there is no self-nomination and only individual registered Filipino citizen or school, community, socio-civic organizations, religious groups and government and non government agencies can nominate.
The search is initiated by the Philippine Center for Gifted Education (PCGE) along with the National Historical Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA), the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), and the Tanghalang Pilipino.
