DUMAGUETE CITY, June 18 (PIA) --- Dumaguete City received P3 million from the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) after being awarded the Department of Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Seal of Good Housekeeping.

Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria accepted the check today from DILG-7 Regional Director Ananias Villacorta at the DILG provincial office here.

Villacorta said Dumaguete City qualifies for the PCF fund subsidy which could be used to finance economic development projects in the city.

PCF is given to all provinces, cities and municipalities awarded the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) on the condition that the LGU shall allocate a counterpart fund to implement capital investment projects aligned with the national development agenda and priorities.

The SGH award recognizes local government units (LGUs) with good performance in internal housekeeping, especially on sound fiscal management, transparency, accountability, and performance management.

In 2012, Dumaguete City also received an award of SGH.

PCF aims to encourage LGUs to render their best performance in order to gain financial support that will boost and sustain the local economic development initiatives for poverty reduction in their respective localities. (rmn/jct/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
