BOHOL, August 7 (PIA) --- The government of Canada has extended housing assistance to a total of 500 families in Maribojoc town in Bohol.
The beneficiaries are those whose houses were damaged after the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that struck the province in October last year.
The Government of Canada, as part of its humanitarian response after the earthquake, provided Cad$ 250,000, or approximately P10-M, to World Vision’s Progressive Core Shelter Project in the area, according to a press statement.
“When the earthquake hit Bohol last year, Canada was one of the first countries to have pledged to assist in relief and early recovery,” Ambassador Reeder said.
Canada's total response to the Bohol earthquake amounts to Cad$ 1 million, or approximately P40-M.
“This funding was provided to humanitarian organizations, such as World Vision, which were striving to meet the needs of the people affected by the earthquake,” Ambassador Reeder added. (rmn/Press Release from Embassy of Canada)
