Dgte City officials lead civil servants in observing 114th civil service anniversary

DUMAGUETE CITY, September 9 (PIA) – In observance of the 114th Civil Service anniversary Dumaguete City mayor Manuel Sagarbarria and vice mayor Woodrow Maquiling Sr led civil servants in the 5k fun run activity on September 7 starting at the kiwanis stage along Sta. Catalina Street, Dumaguete City.


Dubbed as Race to Serve 5K Fun Run, some 500 employees from the city and provincial government  , DepEd City Division and Dumaguete City Water District joined in the 5K run.

For the 51 years old and above male category, DepEd teacher Bernabe Bustillo crossed the finish line in 22 minutes and 55 seconds to garner first place followed by Jeffrey Jocson from the City Toursim Office finishing with a time of 27:19 and third placer Ulysis Omoyon from the City Health Office hitting the finish line in 29:40.

Ruling the category of 51 years old and above female category Anita Baba of CHLIDO completed the run in 36 minutes and 26 seconds, followed by Luz Generoso clocking in at 41:10 and Maria Salome Buquiran checking in at finish line in 53 minutes as third placer.

Winners under the 35 years old and under male category were: Enecito Banono (25:30) first placer, Rey Nura (25:39) second and third placer Louie Zamora (26:03).

Female category 35 years old and under winners were: Rosemarie Paras (29:18) 1st placer, Paula Tumulak second (31:26) and 3rd placer Eliza Martizano (35:52).

Other winners in the 36 years old & 50 years old male category are as follows: Percentino Cual 1st placer (23:52); Paultom Paras second (24:33) and third Jomas Iso (25:27).

Female winners of the same category were first placer Rowena Zerna (27:22); second Cherrie Agravante (32:03) and third Lhing Corciega (33:08).
The top three winners from the different categories were given medals.

Other attendees in the 5K fun run activity were city administrator William Ablong, department heads and city sports officer Ike Villaflores who initiated the fun run events as part of the activities in observance of the 114th Civil Service Month celebration.

This year’s celebration banners the theme: "Tapat na Serbisyo Alay Ko Dahil Lingkod Bayani Ako" which aims to promote, showcase and celebrate heroism of Philippine civil servants. (mbcn/lpp/PIA-7/NegOr with reports from Lenne Noel/City Public Information Office)
