DUMAGUETE CITY, Sept 18 (PIA) --The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMCL) enjoined pawnshop operators, foreign exchange dealers, money changers and remittance agents to attend the seminar on Anti-Money Laundering ACT (AMLA) on September 25-26 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, BSP Dumaguete Branch, Dumaguete City.
According to BSP-Dumaguete branch deputy director Nicasio Parco, this joint seminar will brief participants on Presidential Decree No. 114 or Pawnshop Regulation Act and R.A. No. 9160 as amended, or Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) and other rules and regulations governing the business of pawnshop or pawnbrokering, money changing and remittasnce agent.
The activity will also cover discussions on the duties and responsibilities of both the pawner and the pawnee, innovations and evolutions in the pawnshop business and some financial data on the industry, said Parco.
The BSP official said the briefing on pawnshop regulations and AMLA seminar for stockholders/proprietors, directors and officers and employees directly in-charge of operations of pawnshop/foreign exchange dealer/money changer and remittance agent is one of the pre-requisites for the issuance by the BSP of the acknowledgement of registration, authority to operate and certificate of registration for the entities.
Interested participants from nearby provinces are also told to attend the two-day briefing-seminar.
Parco said attendees are reminded to pre-register or enroll and pay the seminar fees with the BSP Head Office or the nearest regional branch where the briefing will be held.
The seminar fees include P500 for the two-day briefing on pawnshop regulations and AMLA seminar and P300 for the one-day AMLA seminar.
