SIQUIJOR, April 25 (PIA) - - The
Department of Science and Technology (DOST) here in Siquijor encourages all
qualified small, medium and micro entrepreneurs to attend the first ever
Philippine Halal Assembly (PHA) on June 3-5, 2015 at the Marriott Manila Grand
Ballroom.
Interested
entrepreneurs are encouraged to avail of the free registration until April 30.
Starting May 1 a registration fee worth USD 300.00 will be
collected.
PHA 2015 is expected
to draw participants not only from the Philippines but also from other
countries. Dubbed as “Synergizing Halal thru S&T”, the event aims to become
a venue for both the public and private sector to make discussions and
commitments for a stronger Halal economy.
According to the
official PHA 2015 flyer, the general objective of the assembly is to increase
Philippine Halal products exports to United Arab Emirates (UAE) as well as Gulf
Cooperation Council (GCC) with the perspective of Expo 2020 Dubai.
More than 20 million
tourists are expected to attend the Expo 2020 capturing the World Halal Market
not to mention the convergence of millions of Muslims all over the world in the
Holy Land of Mecca in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the performance of UMRAH
year-round and pilgrimage once a year.
The main highlight of
the PHA is to launch the DOST 12 Philippine Halal Certified Logo to the world
which is duly recognized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
PSTD Engr. Mario de la
Peña in an interview called upon all SETUP beneficiaries especially
in the food processing sector to join the PHA.
