Over 43T local and overseas jobs await Region 7 jobseekers

CEBU CITY, April 30 (PIA) -- Over 43,313 local and overseas job vacancies are available for the region-wide job fair for tomorrow’s Labor Day.


According to Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-7) Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Exequiel Sarcauga, there will be six simultaneous job fairs tomorrow in the whole region with 11,663 local job vacancies and 31,650 overseas vacancies.

Around 183 employers are expected to participate, of which 130 are local and 53 overseas, he added.

The six job fairs which will simultaneously be held are: Local Job Fair at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Social Hall; Local and Overseas Job Fairs in Robinson’s Place, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental; Overseas Job Fair in Abellana Sports Complex; Local and Overseas Job Fairs at Hoops Dome, Lapu-Lapu City; Local Job Fair in SM City Trade Hall and another Local Job Fair at SM Consolacion, Cebu.

The local positions needed include Client Care Professionals (Customer Assistants/Customer Service Agents/Representatives), production workers, electronic assemblers, market researchers, sales and stock clerks, baggers, sales staff, sales utilities, checkers, construction workers, cashiers, store associates, janitors, waiters/waitresses, cooks, bank staff, technical support agents, salon operators, treasury assistants, aesthecians/facialists, warehousemen and account executives,according to DOLE-7 Labor Communications Officer Luchel S. Taniza.

Taniza added that their office has also identified available overseas vacant positions. These are factory workers, laborers, helpers, assistant nurses, restaurant crews/staff /waiters, cabin cleaners, janitresses, construction workers, carpenters, radiologists, scaffolders, painters, coordinators, supervisors, school bus assistants, respiratory technicians, physiotherapists, fabricators/ platers, electricians, welders and pipe installators.

Sarcauga hopes to have as many Hired on the Spots (HOTS) as possible tomorrow, adding that the jobseekers have to be ready with complete documents to help them have bigger chances to get hired.

“We encourage them to be ready with their bio-data, comprehensive resumes, transcript of records, certificates of employment if there’s any, clearance, photos, and other necessary pre-employment requirements,” he said.

To facilitate a smooth flow of events during the job fairs, applicants are advised to pre-register at their nearby Public Service Employment Offices (PESOs) or at Phil-Jobnet, an internet-based job and applicant matching system which aims to fast track the jobseeker's search for jobs and the employer's search for manpower.
