DUMAGUETE CITY, May 7
(PIA) -- The National University (NU) Bulldogs basketball team of Manila
will visit Dumaguete City to see action in the goodwill basketball games on May
30 to 31at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Complex.
According to Metro
Dumaguete College consultant Dinno Depositario, this event is an offshot of the
successful games between the De Lasalle University- Green Archers and the
University of the Visayas –Warriors in last year’s Universities Athletics
Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season '77 Basketball Champions.
Depositario said the
NU-Bulldogs headed by their Coach Eric Altamirano will be pitted against Cebu's
top collegiate basketball team, University of the Visayas-Lancers, a
powerhouse in collegiate basketball in Cebu City.
Participating also in
the two-day goodwill games include School Sports Association of Negros
Oriental (SSANO) champions, Asian College of Dumaguete and one of the
best local commercial teams in the province, the reinforced SHAMAN AIR.
Negros Oriental
chapter president of the Samahang Basketbol Ng Pilipinas (SBP) coach Glenn
Serion said the basketball games is a follow up to the recently successful
conclusion of the DLSU-Archers and USC-Warriors invitational games held
on March 6 to 7, this year at the same venue.
" The SBP –NegOr
chapter in a joint efforts with the provincial government intends to bring to
top caliber basketball games for the purpose of showcasing outstanding
basketball games to the avid basketball fans of the province and at the same
time helping the SBP organization expose its officials and referees in
the technical aspects and rudiments of high caliber basketball games,"
Serion said.
The goodwill games
will start at 5:00 p.m. with a general admission of P99. It
will only be available at the gates of Macias Sports Complex
prior to game time with two games per day and with the highlight game at
