CEBU, May 18 (PIA) -- Student leaders from different
universities in Cebu are set to converge for the 1st Google Student Leaders
Summit (GSLS) at the University of San Carlos-Talamban campus on May 23.
The Google Student Ambassadors Program spearheads the GSLS that
will gather student leaders in a day of talks, forums and other activities
intended to sharpen the leadership skills of the participants.
GSLS Cebu centralizes on the theme “#ThinkAgain” that aims to
encourage leaders to be eager innovators as they come up with new ways in
leading and inspiring others to lead, especially using technology.
The event will feature speakers that have made a mark as leaders
in the fields of business, technology, education, design and politics in their
local community.
These speakers include Ruben Licera of Google Developers Group
Cebu; Pamela Panares of Google Educators Group Sugbo; Carolinian student Marc
Abuan and Danica Fernandez of USC Commission on Elections that will expand on
their topics in a series of forums and group discussions.
With the speakers are Google Student Ambassadors from other
schools and outside Cebu will also share their knowledge during a panel session
and open forum.
The very first GSLS was held in Makati City in April 2013 with
over 50 participants.
It was followed with GSLS 2.0 with the theme “The Marriage of
Technology and Leadership” held in MINT College in Taguig in December 2013 with
about 120 participants.
The latest one, GSLS 3.0 with the theme “#ReadyToLead” was held at
the University of Asia and the Pacific in February 2015 with over 150
participants.
GSLS Cebu is organized in collaboration with USC Supreme Student
Council, USC ideaLab and Today’s Carolinian.
