CEBU, June 21 (PIA)
-- Cebu City will host the 4th Southeast Asian Creative Cities Network (SEACCN)
Forum on June 25 with the theme “AUTHENTI-CITIES:
Identity and Unity in Diversity,” to further boost Cebu’s
position as an ASEAN City of Culture and one of the world’s most creative
cities.
Cebu through the Creative
Cebu Council is one of the founding members of SEACCN a network of cities,
organizations, groups and individuals in Southeast Asia that are actively
involved in promoting creativity.
It is an open group that
focuses in urban development, heritage and arts, all art forms, crafts,
innovation, digital content, functional design and entrepreneurship, among
others.
The forum will have
distinguished speakers who are urban and creative experts, designers, and
crafts directors from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the
Chiang Mai University’s Science & Technology Park, Think City Penang,
Bandung Creative City Forum, Asia-Europe Foundation, and the British Council.
The British Council on the
other hand, will share its ideas about collaboration between countries in the
European Union and its own experiences in creating the beginnings of a
blueprint from where its own ASEAN collaborative networking can proceed.
Joining in the event will
be delegates from the Creative Councils of the SEACCN member-cities, including
Chiang Mai (Thailand), Penang (Malaysia), Bandung (Indonesia), and members of
Cebu’s creative community.
The Department of Trade
and Industry Cebu Provincial Office (DTI-Cebu) meanwhile, is inviting artistic,
imaginative, inventive, expressive and even artsy individuals to join and be
part in an experience sharing forum highlighting creativity, culture and
enterprise in ASEAN cities.
DTI-Cebu urges more
creative people to join so they can be assisted with funding and accessing the
bigger market as the agency has earmarked P2.7 million budget from the Small
Business (SB) Corporation intended for loans for creative entrepreneurs.
A registration Fee of
P1,000 will be collected inclusive of lunch, refreshments and forum kit.
