DUMAGUETE CITY, June
15 (PIA)-- In a recent Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting held
at the old session hall of the provincial capitol building, Agent Ivy Claire
Oledan of PDEA Negros Oriental bared that the cities of Dumaguete, Tanjay and
Bais have become the trans shipment point of drug transportation in Negros
Oriental.
Oledan further said
that illegal drugs are transported using motorcycles and private four-wheeled
vehicles distributing drug supplies throughout the province.
Previously, the
PDEA and Negros Oriental Police Office (NORPO) with the support of the Negros
Oriental Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse and Prevention Council conducted a two-day
intelligence workshop at the Provincial Convention Center to update and unify
the watch list, target list and wanted list of personalities operating in the
province as well as the current drug trends in the area, Oledan said.
The activity was
attended by intelligence PNCO's and intelligence officers of the twenty-five
police stations in Negros Oriental, PAIDSOTG, National Bureau of Investigation
and the Philippine Coast Guard with resource speakers from intelligence
officers of PDEA regional office 7.
Oledan also revealed
that illegal drugs specifically shabu were being traded at the provincial jail
by unidentified suspects. The warden reportedly turned over to PDEA a pack of
shabu found by an inmate within the vicinity of the provincial jail.
With this development,
Oledan said that PDEA will investigate this matter by conducting a surprise
inspection at the provincial jail to monitor the alleged trading activities of
illegal drugs by inmates. (mbcn/lpp/PIA7/Negros Oriental)
