DUMAGUETE CITY, May 5 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare & Development Office (DSWD-7) conducted the orientation for the second round of household orientation of Listahananan (Talaan ng Pamilyang Nangangailangan) recently in Dumaguete City.

The orientation was attended by representatives from the different local government units (LGUs) in Negros Oriental.

Listahanan is an information management system that identifies who and where the poor are.

It is the new name of the National Household Targetting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR).

Listahanan will assess and determine the needs of the poor especially those families that are affected by calamities.

Through these assessments, DSWD will determine their needs and provide them immediate and proper assistance.

This will be conducted in four phases namely: preparatory phase that will identify areas to be assessed, data collection and analysis that will collect socio-economic information about family members using the family assessment form (FAF), validation phase which is posting of initial list of poor families at the local level for validation of the residents; and reports generation phase, the final stage wherein official list of poor families will be used as guide in selecting beneficiaries for their social protection programs.

According to Kerwin Macopia, Information Officer of DSWD-7, Listahanan is designed to improve the delivery of social protection programs to maximize benefits for the poor families in the country.

Listahanan is implemented in 132 local government units (LGUs) in region 7 targetting 1,016,069 household beneficiairies. (rmn/LPP/PIA Negros Oriental)
