DSWD-7 has a new chief

CEBU CITY, Feb 6 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 7 (DSWD - 7) recently welcomed a new regional director.

Mercedita P. Jabagat assumed office replacing Ma. Evelyn Macapobre who is now assigned in DSWD 6 in Iloilo City.

Jabagat is a native of Isabela City, Basilan but currently a resident in Davao City.

She is a graduate of Bachelor in Social Work at the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) Batch ’76.

Jabagat, who first met with the DSWD-7 personnel in a meeting yesterday, emphasized work excellence in the department and for all staff to exert all efforts in implementing various anti-poverty alleviation and social protection programs and services such as Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps, Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-Cidss), and the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

She further acknowledged the importance of collaborating and coordinating with different local governments, partner national government agencies (NGAs), and non-government organizations (NGOs) in making the core programs successful.

Jabagat has lined up courtesy calls and visits to meet with the town and city mayors as well as provincial governors and district representatives in Central Visayas starting this week until middle of this year. (HFG-PIA 7/DSWD-7)
