CEBU CITY, Feb. 12 (PIA) -- The
National Statistics Office (NSO) -7 celebrates the month of February as Civil
Registration Month with services intended to bring closer to the public.
With the theme “Civil Registration: Bringing Public Service Closer to the
People” civil registration month has set aside activities for the public
intended for the whole of February to highlight the free registration service
and free giving of affidavits and certificates.
Other services include hanging of informative streamers in the different areas
of the city and provinces of Central Visayas free mobile registration, info
dissemination and info drive for schools.
NSO-7 regional director Arniel Florendo said that the civil registration month
is really intended to provide services to the public free of charge and to
inform them as well on the importance of registration and acquiring other
affidavits and certificates.
“Aside from the free registration we also issued birth, married and death
certificate all of free charge in observance of the civil registration month,”
Florendo said.
Mobile registration will also roam every municipality to offer registration and
issuance of certificates.
But Florendo clarified that as to the Local Civil Registrar Office (LCRO) it is
the discretion of the office whether it will issue a certificate for free, but
he added that they are already encouraging every LCRO to issue it freely since
some are already practicing it.
He also added that services offered in line with the civil registration month
have no limit as to the number of clients. (mbcn/AYS/PIA-7)
