CEBU CITY, March 13 (PIA) --- The
Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) sets two periods as
deadline for employers when remitting the premium contribution of their new employees.
In a press statement, Philhealth
required the employers to remit the monthly contributions of their employees on
or before the 10th day of the following applicable month, and submission of
remittance reports on or before the 15th.
In order to avoid long queues during
deadlines, employers with Philhealth Employer Numbers (PENs) ending in zero (0)
to four (4) shall now remit the contribution of their employees for the month
of March 2014 between the 11th and the 15th day of April this year.
While employers with PENs ending in
five (5) to nine (9) shall pay between the 16th and the 20th day of April.
Remittance reports shall be submitted within five days after payment is made.
In Circular 01-2014, the PEN issued to
every registered employer such as proprietor, business entity, government
agency, among others will be the basis for the deadline of payment starting
with contributions for the month of March 2014.
Consistent with Circular 27-2010,
should the due date fall on a weekend or a holiday, payment and submission of
remittance reports shall be made on the next working day.
Payments may be made at any Philhealth
office or through any accredited collecting bank.
On the other hand, employers who have
accounts with the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) may remit premiums
online through the bank’s Express Link facility.
Employers are reminded to pay on time to avoid the two percent
monthly interest on late premium payments.(mbcn/HFG/PIA-7/PHIC)
