CEBU CITY, June 23 (PIA)--- The City of Carcar will have a memorable celebration of its seventh charter anniversary as it launchs its digital tourism project.
Carcar information officer Candice Acuna said, the city will formally launch digital tourism during its cityhood day on July 7 to make Carcar City as the third local government unit in Cebu province to have practiced digital tourism.
The project include the availability of ebooks, digital map and guides in a mobile and internet application of the City.
Max Limpag, of Innopub Media, its project partner said Digital tourism makes use of mobile technology to deliver tourism, cultural and historical information considering that the number of customers, travelers, tourists going online and on mobile are increasing.
Limpag said in Cebu province, there are yet two LGU’s who recently launched digital tourism, Argao and Boljoon.
In the entire country, they had so far put up the digital tourism applications of Iloilo City, Santa Barbara town and Baguio City.
Once launched in Carcar City, significant sites for its famous shoe making industry, chicharon making, heritage houses and other stuffs and places of historical and economical value will be placed with QR (Quick response) codes.
The application will include where to go, where to stay and pointers of important things that one can do in Carcar City.
Expected to grace the occasion on July 7 are Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, former 1st district Congressman and father of Carcar Cityhood Eduardo Gullas and some investors.
Carcar City has a lot of historical sites to offer which are mostly old houses and facades. It is also the home of the famous priest who is now considered as Blessed, Bishop Teofilo Camomot. (mbcn/FCC/PIA7-Cebu)
