DUMAGUETE CITY, June 23 (PIA) -- In observance of the Nutrition month celebration in July, the Provincial Nutrition Council (PNC) will spearhead a nutri-walk on July 1 at 5:30 in the morning to start at the Sidlakang Negros Village going to Freedom Park with a program at 8:00AM.
Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo will give a message on the provincial government's programs, services and implementation of its nutrition agenda.
Participating in the nutri-walk are employees from the national and local government agencies, Department of Education, Philippine National Police (PNP), and students from the different schools and universities.
This year's celebration banners the theme: Kalamidad Paghandaan, Gutom at Malnutrisyon Agapan". which focuses on mitigating and preventing malnutrition in times of disaster and calamities.
Other activities lined up for this year's celebration include: Kapihan sa PIA forum, disaster preparedness drill, on the spot poster making contest, cooking contest, well baby and jingle contest, and agro-fair contest with first, second and third prizes at stake for each category.
Culminating the activity on July 31, the Provincial Nutrition Council members will be heading for Sta. Catalina town being identified as one of the local government units in Negros Oriental with a non-functional barangay nutrition committees, to conduct supplemental feeding to malnourished children.
