Dumaguete City to hold 1st Christmas chorale competition


DUMAGUETE CITY, Dec. 11 (PIA)   Dumaguete City will hold its 1st Dumaguete Christmas Chorale Competition on December 15 at the Quezon Park.

City Tourism Officer Woodrow Maquiling, Jr., said the competition has been conceptualized as part of the annual giant Christmas tree switch-on ceremony event of the city, ushering the Yuletide season with music, fireworks and fun-filled events.

The competitions are open to all choirs of Christian Churches in Dumaguete City.

Each choir will be asked to perform their best renditions of tow Christmas songs, Maquiling said.

The winning choir will receive a cash prize of P15,000 and trophy for the first prize,  P10,000 and a trophy for the second place and third prize will also receive P5,000 and trophy.

Maquiling, added, that the program is part of Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria lined up activity to amplify the spirit of Christmas in Dumaguete City, as this embeds happiness and joy through the annual switch-on ceremony of the giant Christmas tree with the launching of the first Dumaguete Christmas Chorale Competition.

Maquiling said as the City successfully concluded the festivities brought about the Charter Day Anniversary and Sandurot Festival, Dumaguetenos now embraces the Holiday season inspired by the message of Christmas to spread peace, harmony and goodwill through the gift of music.
