Sinulog 2015 to boost sales and exposure of local products/services

·    CEBU CITY, January 15 (PIA)--- Local products and Cebu tourist spots expect boosts during Sinulog season. Small and medium entrepreneurs from Cebu  and other provinces are in the City to ride on  to the Sinulog season to market their products.
The Cebu Provincial Government organized a food fair dubbed as “Kaon Ta Bai” in Ayala Center Cebu, for towns and municipalities wherein they display their respective delicacies
.
The displays include the famous Carcar city “chicharon”;  Liloan’s rosquillos; Asturias’ bingka dawa; Argao’s torta and many others.
Asturias Tourism Officer, Era Rallos said, the stocks were old sold out since the beginning of the trade fair.  In certain days, she had to phone her colleagues for a replenishment.
Carcar City Information Officer Candice Acuna on the other said the city’s chicharon remains to be a best seller.  A kilo of special chicharon is P400.  They also have bocarilos (colored preserve coconut meat) and ampao (sweet crunchy rice).
Meanwhile the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-7) also mounted the annual Sinulog Fiesta Fair in SM City with 46 exhibitors not just from Cebu but from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Business development officer of DTI-Cebu Elias Tecson said the exhibitors are getting a boost in sales despite Pope Francis' visit  in Manila and Tacloban that will also take place during Sinulog weekend.
In the first three days of the fiesta fair some of the SME’s were almost recovering the  exhibit costs. Top seller include Maexel Chickabites for  processed food, Eleanor Beauty Creations for  gifts decors and housewares and for local delicacies, Argao’s best is leading.
Ai-She Footware From Laguna, Mariz Coligado said they had been participating in the last five years because Cebu is a good avenue for them to market their abaca shoes.
“Our product is different from those in Marikina, in Cebu and anywhere else, so we are confident that even if we sell it here, there are still patronizers,” Coligado said.
The Sinulog trade fair was organized to support the MSMEs’ need to develop new markets. It’s a venue for them to meet new buyers and establish possible linkages with other suppliers and producers.
Immediately after the Sinulog, is the holding of the seasonal “Suroy-Suroy Sugbo”, a local tour in the southern municipalities of the province.
This is also an income generation for the province and the local government units and at the same time a promotion and exposure strategy.(mbcn/FCC/PIA-Cebu)
