Rey Anthony H. Chiu
BOHOL, April 22 (PIA)-- San Isidro town in Bohol managed to pool P12.4M to fund its various infrastructure development projects as priority in each barangay that were accessed from the first cycle of a key project in government social welfare development.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan (Kalahi) National Community Driven Development program (NCCDP) grants some P9,125,000 to San Isidro Barangays, the sum of 12 sub projects which the communities have earlier identified as an economic boost to conditions of their villages.
The Provincial Government of Bohol on the other hand puts in with some P359,450 representing non-cash aid to the town. The help directed to two barangay infrastructure projects, according Lucky Biel Diongson, San Isidro Kalahi Coordinator.
An addition San Isidro municipal government through Mayor Jacinto Naraga and Vice Mayor Eudoxio Asoy put up non-cash counterpart worth P433,337.11 that went to the town’s 12 barangays.
To complete the picture, barangays through their councils and chairmen pitched in cash worth P915,960.99 and non-cash valued at P1,388,926.91 or  P2,304.887.90.
In the spirit of empowerment and ownership, men and women in each of the barangays squeezed sweat and swear in to supplement the labor requirements to get their projects up and functional.
Biggest project among San Isidro’s community identified infrastructure is the Masonoy Barangay access road rehabilitation which goes as high as P1,640,800.00. Poblacion’s construction of a multi-purpose building (MPB) follows next with P1,638,400.
Barangay Cansague Norte residents identified as priority its P1.347,100.00 multi-purpose building while Cabanugan tags a barangay road access rehabilitation worth P1,061.00.
Among the projects identified are the following: P906,200.00 Cambansag (Construction of MPB), P849,400 Caimbang construction of Barangay Health Station, P834,800 and P824,400.00 for Baunos and Abehilan’s concreting of Barangay Access Roads.
Barangay Baryong Daan has P786,60.00 Barangay Access Road, Cansague Sur has P767,200.00 Barangay Trading Post while Causwagan Sur has barangay access road construction worth P761,800.
Mayor Jacinto Naraga also said that he did not expect that much when the government started organizing for the project, until the time that he signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the DSWD in September 17, 2014.
San Isidro is a landlocked town too far out from its mother second district, is surrounded by first district towns.
Just as the town’s new roads opened its access to Tagbilaran and port town of Tubigon, the massive earthquake of 2013 cut off the town again, toppled several of its public infrastructure, leaving most of its people isolated. (mbcn/rac/PIA-7Bohol)
