SIQUIJOR, Feb 20 -- The Commission
on Elections (Comelec) has released a two-minute video advertisement entitled
“Boy Bawal” on campaign practices prohibited in the May 13 elections.
The video lists “campaign don’ts” such as putting up oversized posters, posting
campaign materials in public vehicles, trees and public structures, and vote
buying, among others.
At the end of the video, Comelec Chairman Sixto S. Brillantes Jr exhorted the
public: "Umpisa na ang kampanya. Kapag may nakita kayong bawal,
pakisumbong niyo sa amin dito sa Comelec."
(Election campaign period has started. Kindly report to the Comelec any
violation that you see.)
A request has been sent to all networks for the airing of the “Boy Bawal” ad,
according to a Comelec statement.
The ad can also be viewed at the Comelec's Youtube channel:
www.youtube.com/user/comelectv, and at the Comelec-EID blog
www.mycomelec.tv/main.
The Comelec earlier called on the public to report violations on campaign rules
through its twitter account www.twitter.com/comelec using the hashtag
#sumbongko. (mbcn/RACalibo with COMELEC reports)#
