CEBU CITY, March 24 (PIA) --- Airport personnel at Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) will undergo a disaster preparedness workshop dubbed “Get Airports Ready for Disaster (GARD).”
Deutsche Post DHL (DPDHL) partnered with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to conduct the workshop that will kick off on March 31, 2014.
The workshop aims to prepare airport personnel for emergencies caused by natural disasters, such as handling high volumes of incoming goods and passengers in the aftermath of a disaster.
DPDHL and UNDP will train MCIA personnel to make post-disaster airport scenes less chaotic with the airport staff better prepared to facilitate relief.
GARD trainers and materials are provided for free by DHL while UNDP manages the project, leads the coordination with government authorities, and provides funds to shoulder workshop costs. (RMN/PIA Cebu)
