Gov Degamo turns over new equipment to Zamboanguita

ZAMBOANGUITA, Negros Oriental, April 3 (PIA)  Governor Roel Degamo recently turned over three brand new equipment worth P5 million to the municipality of Zamboanguita.

The equipment received by the town mayor Kit Marc Adanza included a pay loader, one road roller and a mini-dump truck.

“This is the second turn-over of equipment in addition to the grader which was earlier donated by the provincial government to Zamboanguita,” said capitol information officer Adrian Sedillo.

Gov. Degamo said the donation is part of the provincial government’s goal to strengthen its cooperation with the various cities and municipalities in the province.

The governor said he recognizes the need of the local government units for heavy equipment as they are vital to bring about developments in their respective areas of jurisdiction especially in the hinterland barangays.

The provincial government itself has acquired 11brand new heavy equipment in order to bolster its aim to establish mobile engineering units throughout the province as well as its efforts on disaster mitigation and preparedness activities.

Meanwhile starting this year, the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) throughout the province will get a P100 increase in their monthly honorarium from the provincial government.

Gov. Degamo recently announced the development during a series of distribution of the honorarium of the BHWs province-wide.

This is the provincial government’s way of recognizing the BHWs as partners in the delivery of basic health services to the people.

“Without them, it would be very difficult to bring the different programs of the government to the barangays,” the governor said.

The governor, however, added that the P100 monthly increase is very minimal as compared to the sacrifices and hard work experience by the BHWs.

The provincial government continues to find ways to remunerate the invaluable contributions of the health sector for the welfare of the people in the barangay level.

“Not only that they are vehicles for health services but also to other programs of the government which the people can readily avail of,” the governor said.  (mbcn/JCT/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
