CEBU CITY, May 28 (PIA)--- Acting Police Regional Office 7 regional director PSSupt Orlando Ualat encouraged schools that can afford to set-up closed circuit televisions (CCTV) as an added security feature for school year onwards and to augment safety among students.
The entire police force is on heightened alert starting Sunday June 1 in preparation for Monday’s opening of classes.
This after the Department of Education (DepEd) announced that classes are not extended and will officially start on June 2 despite the still ongoing repairs and classroom constructions in the disaster hit areas.
Ualat ordered maximum deployment of police personnel in all schools and wanted all units to submit comprehensive deployment system (CDS).
He said the CDS is a detailed study of occurrences and identification of crimes in certain areas at a given time which will serve as basis for the deployment of personnel.
PSSupt Erson Digal of the Regional Operations Planning Division said other than the schools, there will be almost a hundred personnel from the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) that will be deployed in the terminals and ports starting this weekend.
The intelligence divisions in all units will also be conducting random checkpoints.
There are more than 4,000 schools in Central Visayas that are starting their classes on June 2. (mbcn/FCC/PIA7-Cebu)
