‘Earth Day Jam’ set in Dumaguete City on Aug. 20

DUMAGUETE CITY, July 31 (PIA) – Dumaguete City’s landmark Rizal Boulevard will be the venue for the biggest and longest running coolest music jam for Mother Earth, the Earth Day Jam.


This is to explode with a street party participated in by some of the hottest bands and artists in the country to foster environmental care and awareness for the 15th year anniversary celebration of Earth Day Foundation, Inc.

“We have been recognized as the longest running free environmental music tribute in the world. It is all because of this a unique relentless campaign supported by concerned artists, government and private sector agencies," said Earth Day Jam Foundation president and executive producer of the event Lou Bonnevie. 

“This aims not only to educate people about the state of health of planet earth, but get everyone to do their fair share in the global fight to save this planet for our children’s future, the next generation,” said Bonnevie.

Alongside with Silliman University’s 114th Founder’s Day anniversary, the Earth Day Jam will also have exhibit booths from supporting NGOs and several youth groups that is open to the general public starting 1:00pm on August 20.

At 5:00 pm, the musical marathon begins with the hottest local acts featuring Banda Mangga, Skillage, Odd, Five Volts and Take Two.

Also performing is the Silliman Jazz Group.

Headlining the main event is the most enduring and popular favorite OPM group Parokya ni Edgar with the powerhouse, Rocksteddy (featuring funny man Showtime’s host Teddy) .  

The boys from Rivermaya is back with its strings of hit songs expected to create a “song-along”.

Brownman Revival, the most popular reggae band and Dumaguete’s favorite, will take the reggae, world music segment of the show.

The only female frontliner is artist-producer rock icon and eco-artist Lou Bonnevie.

She is set to conquer Dumaguete jamming with the Silliman jazz group, Banda Mangga and rapper Mike Patejo in a mash-up medley of “earth” songs from Neil Young , Michael Jackson  and the The Queen.

And in keeping with the anniversary spirit, Earthday Jam Foundation will give citations to several Negrenses Environmental Heroes and advocates with the ”GAIA “ (earth) awards .

Various guest celebrity hosts and artists and invited beauty queens will complete the surprise package which will be weaving through the music numbers and joining various speakers from various organizations who will share valuable knowledge on various critical environmental issues.

Bonnevie said much as the event is free to the public—Earthday Jam Foundationwill be giving away VIP passes with access to the front of stage.

“All they have to do is to like the Earthday Jam facebook page and share the information about the event to as many as they can,” the singer said.

Participants are also encouraged to post their “green” pledges and ideas on how an ordinary citizen can help make this world a more livable place.

This event is presented by Energy Development Corporation (EDC)  in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the City Government of Dumaguete.

It is ably supported by the  Climate Change Commission, Peace and Equity Foundation, Clean Air Asia and the various student organizations from Silliman University, Foundation University, Negros Oriental State University and St.Paul University. (rmn/jct/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
