TESDA skills competitions for tech-voc graduates up

TAGBILARAN CITY, July 13 (PIA)--Technical and vocational education graduates will again compete against each other as the Provincial Skills Competitions (PSC) begins today until July 14 at the Bohol Island State University (BISU) Main Campus and three other venues. 


The PSC opens today at the Cristal-e College in Panglao where cooking and restaurant services skills competitions is held.  Welding technologies would be competed at the BISU Bingag Campus while web design competitions would be at the STI in Tagbilaran. 

The PSC serves as a venue to recognize the skills excellence of the young industry skilled workers and graduates of technical and vocational schools and training centers and institutions compete against each other to be called the best trained skilled workers.

The Association of Public and Private TechVoc Institutions in Bohol (APTIB) that organized the competition said its mission is to develope the globally competitive Filipino Workers who possess world class skills, values and work ethics, put up the event this year.

Supervised by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), APTIB said the contest areas for competiton this year would be in the fields of welding and its technologies, web design, cooking and restaurant service. 

 TESDA-7 regional director Rosanna Urdaneta is expected to grace the events, while organizers said they invited Governor Edgar Chatto, Congressman Rene Relampagos, Mayor Leonila Montero, Board Member Dionisio Balite and City Mayor John Geesnell Yap to join them. (mbcn/rahc/PIA7-Bohol)
