DUMAGUETE CITY, Aug. 17 (PIA) -- A musical marathon for
environmental awareness, Earth Day Jam is set to hit Dumaguete City with
over 20 artists are slated to perform on Aug. 20.
While world leaders prepare for a UN meeting to respond to climate
change challenges in December, over 10,000 participant-jammers are expected to
gather in this biggest music jam for Mother Earth.
Drum-beating ambassadors for Mother Earth lead by Earth
Day Jam executive producer Lou Bonnevie include most popular favorite OPM group
Parokya ni Edgar with the powerhouse, Rocksteddy, boys from Rivermaya, Brownman
Revival and some popular local musical artists in Negros Oriental.
On its 15th year anniversary, Earthday Jam Foundation will also
give citations to several Negrenses environmental heroes and advocates with the
“GAIA’ Earth awards.
The only female frontliner, artist producer rock icon and
eco-artist Lou Bonnevie said the event now is in its 15th year and have been
recognized as the longest running free environmental music tribute in the
world.
Bonnevie added, “It is all because of this unique relentless
campaign supported by concerned artists, government and private sector agencies
that aims not only to educate about the state of planet earth, but to get
everyone to do their share in the global fight to save this planet for our
children’s future, the next generation.”
The activity will start with an exhibit booths open to the public
at 1:00 p.m. with the concert starting at 5:00 p.m. up to a marathon of close
to 10 hours of revelries.
Some invited speakers will also share valuable knowledge on
critical environmental issues during the event.
With this, a trivia game and “green pledges sharing” with the
audience and giving seedlings from the Department of Environment and Natural
