CEBU CITY, August 24 (PIA) -- Pres. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino
III will arrive in Cebu today to inspect major infrastructure projects here.
Pres. Aquino is set to inspect and be briefed on two major
infrastructure projects implemented in the province by the Department of Public
Works and Highways (DPWH).
Upon arrival at Mactan Air Base, the President will be received by
provincial government officials led by Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III and
high ranking military and police officials.
He will then conduct a windshield inspection of two
projects: the widening of the Mactan Circumferential Road in Lapulapu
City and the rehabilitation of the Sergio Osmena Port Corridor in Cebu City.
Afterwards, the President will motor the Equipment Management
Division of DPWH-7 where Public Works and Highways Sec. Rogelio Singson
will give a briefing on the infrastructure projects.
The President is also expected to give a speech after the briefing.
In the afternoon, Pres. Aquino will attend the “Gathering of
Friends in Cebu” event at the historical Cebu Coliseum in Cebu City which will
be attended not only by officials and guests from Cebu province but also from
the provinces of Negros Oriental, Bohol, Siquijor, Leyte, and Samar.
The activity will be highlighted by the sharing of success stories
from Cebuano beneficiaries whose lives were changed for the good by
the economic and human development programs of the government such as
Pantawid Pamilya.
This is the third time the President visited Cebu this year, with
his first visit on May 1 to mark the Labor Day celebration here and in June to
lead the groundbreaking of the modernization project of Mactan Cebu
