CITY, Cebu Sept. 10 (PIA) –
Pres. Benigno S. Aquino III will be in Cebu today to deliver the Welcome
Address during the Finance Ministers’ Meeting of Asia Pacific Economic
Cooperation (APEC) at Mactan Shangri-la.
The President will deliver his address before
finance ministers and heads of delegations of the 21 member-economies of Apec.
He will be accompanied by Finance Secretary
Cesar Purusima who is also the Chair of the Apec Finance Ministers’ Process.
The Apec Finance Ministers’ Meeting and Related
Meetings kicked off in Cebu on Sept. 9.
In its meeting yesterday, the senior officials
polished the Cebu Action Plan (CAP), a four-pillar development roadmap for the
Asia-Pacific region built from the experiences and expertise of all 21
member-economies, multilateral organizations, and the private sector through
the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).
CAP’s four are, namely: financial integration,
fiscal reforms and transparency, financial resilience, and infrastructure
development and financing.
The pillars are focused on addressing the
regional challenges of building inclusive and resilient economies.
This is the fourth visit of Pres. Aquino in Cebu
this year. His first visit was on May 1 for the Labor Day celebration, followed
by the groundbreaking of the modernization project of Mactan Cebu International
Airport (MCIA) on June 29, and the third on August 24 for an infrastructure
project inspection and briefing and the Visayas-wide “Gathering of Friends”
event. (rmn/PIA7-Cebu)
