SIQUIJOR, July 12 (PIA) – At least  263 drug pushers and users from this province have surrendered to authorities following the implementation of Oplan TokHang by the Philippine National Police (PNP) here.

In its every six-hour update shared to the Philippine Information Agency here, Deputy Police Director for Administration Police Supt. Enrique Belcina said the Siquijor Police Provincial Office (SPPO) have consolidated a total of 196 houses visited provincewide from July 1 to 11:00 a.m of July 12.

During the period, 212 drug users and 51 drug pushers have voluntarily surrendered, but Belcina said none of the drug personalities have surrendered illegal drugs nor committed hostility or in denial, added Belcina in his report.

According to Belcina, there are guidelines being followed in dealing with the surrenderers.

He said that SPPO Provincial Director Erson Digal is putting in place appropriate programs in coordination with the local government units  since Siquijor province has no rehabilitation centers nor appropriate group to handle and accommodate them.

Meantime, these drug personalities, he said, are released under close monitoring by PNP after they have signed their affidavit of undertakings stating that they are really serious in their intent to stop the illegal drug trade.

Once they commit the same activity, we have to take steps with our aggressive operation to neutralize and really stop them, Belcina warned.
