DUMAGUETE CITY, Mar. 18 (PIA) – The Dumaguete City Risk Reduction and Management Council (CRRMC) will lead the conduct of earthquake drill in two different locations around the city tomorrow morning.

Dumaguete City CRRMC announced that the earthquake drills will be carried out simultaneously in City Central Elementary School and in Rizal Boulevard near the Dumaguete Press Club building at around 9:00 am.

The activity is part of the observance of the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on March 19, 9:00 am and is spearheaded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). This is relative to the recent earthquakes that jolted several parts of the country.

The NSED‘s main ceremonial site is in Bicol University in Legaspi City, Albay but similar events will take place in all provinces throughout the country to be headed by the local DRRMCs and regional heads of the Office of Civil Defense.

NSED is done in compliance to R.A. 10121 which requires government offices to boost every community’s capability on earthquake preparedness.

The said earthquake drill will measure the warning dissemination and response measures of the local government units in case a real earthquake occurs in their area.  (mbcn/RAL/PIA7-NEGOR)
