TANJAY CITY, Negros Oriental, Mar. 6
(PIA) – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) once again
handed educational equipment to the students of San Jose Elementary School
recently.
NGCP District III Head, Engr. Zosimo Briones led the turnover of 10 units of A74
Omnipad Tablets with earphones and eight gigabyte memory cards, one printer and
notebooks to the principal, teachers and students of the said school.
Briones said these gadgets would help
students be more advanced in latest technology and improve their process of
learning and in their research activities.
The handover of computer tablets are
part of NGCP’s commitment to bring help to schools in communities that host
NGCP facilities.
“The NGCP is very much aware to improve
the quality of education. We believe that if we improve (the quality) of our
education, then they (students) will be very much competitive in terms of
employment and other skills,” Briones said.
Meanwhile, San Jose Elementary School
Principal Jessica Reyes expressed her gratitude to Power Transmission Company
for choosing the school as recipient of the grant.
Reyes assured NGCP representatives that
these tablets and printer will be handled carefully and will be used to provide
educational inputs to their students.
“Information, media and technology are
skills to be enhanced in order to provide or produce learners who are
holistically developed with 21st century skills,” Reyes said. The San Jose
Elementary school has about 100 student population.
Briones then reminded students to use
these gadgets for educational purposes and not for gaming purposes. He encouraged
students to use the tablets to enhance their skills in new technologies.
The NGCP donates educational equipment
in different schools throughout Negros Oriental as part of its corporate
social responsibility to communities that host their facilities.
It can be recalled that last January
they did turnover five computer sets to McKinley Elementary School in
Guihulngan City.
Aside from San Jose Elementary School
in Tanjay City, the NGCP is also scheduled to donate another set of educational
equipment to an identified school in Dauin town. (mbcn/RAL/PIA7-NEGOR)
