NEGROS ORIENTAL, April 2 (PIA) The local
government of Negros Oriental conducted recently series of
medical-dental missions in the hinterland barangays of the province.
According to Capitol information
officer Adrian Sedillo, Governor Roel Degamo led the series of
medical-dental-surgical missions to the various parts of Negros Oriental.
Degamo said the provincial government
will continue to bring the basic health services to the door steps of the
people especially in the hinterland barangays.
With the support from different line
agencies, organizations and institutions from the private sector, the free
medical services was first held at Barangay Tambo in Ayungon town as one of the
main activities during the barangay’s observance of the annual fiesta.

Enardecido thanked the provincial government through Gov. Degamo for initiating
the program that greatly benefited the barangay residents who have limited
access to hospital facilities.
Sedillo said hundreds of residents not
only from barangay Tambo but also from the neighbouring barangays have received
the health services.
This was followed by the same activity
in line with the observance of the 15th anniversary of the Luz-Sikatuna
Community Primary Hospital in Barangay Luz, Guihulngan City.
The latest was during the 17th
anniversary of the Inapoy Community Primary Hospital in Barangay Inapoy in the
municipality of Mabinay.
Governor Degamo admitted that despite
the huge yearly allocation for the various health programs in the province
there is still a huge gap that the provincial government needs to fill in in
order to deliver the best quality health care services to the people.
Governor Degamo is pushing for his
priority programs under the banner Sa Probinsiya—Magdegamo Ta! which focus on
H-E-L-P thrust, meaning Health, Education, Livelihood Programs and other
projects for peace and development.
Health is one of the priority programs
of the provincial government, as the governor said “All the tangible developments
in the province are insignificant if the people are not healthy.”
The governor believes that health is one very potent tool in the
provincial government’s continuing efforts to attaint peace and development in
