Central Visayas, April 29 (PIA) --- The office of the Ombudsman Visayas is calling for unity in the fight against corruption.
Deputy Ombudsman for the Visayas Pelagio Apostol stressed during the recent Association of Government Information Officers (AGIO 7) that this is the right time for all Filipinos to protest against corruption.
"Kung lahat ng mga tao lalo na dito sa Visayas magprotest against corruption matitigil ang corruption (If everybody, specifically here in the Visayas, will protest against corruption, then corruption can be stopped).
Apostol said the reason why there are cases that seem to be slow in progress and unknown to everybody is that nobody is willing to expose what they know about corruption taking place in their offices.
He stressed that one of the simplest formula against corruption is unity and action in one.
Apostol is also calling for the joint and synchronized efforts of the public and private sectors in the quest against corruption.
“Efforts of the public sector should be complimented by that of the private sectors.”
Apostol then recognized the importance of media in revealing the truth be it legal or illegal. (rmn/AYS/PIA 7)
