DSWD-7 partners with US Naval Construction Regiment for repairs of its centers

CEBU CITY, May 20 (PIA) --- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the 30th U.S. Naval Construction Regiment for the renovation and repairs of its centers.


The MOU was signed by DSWD-7 Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat and Commander Joe Harder in order to seal the partnership in a brief ceremony held at DSWD-7 office, this city. 

“The US military is invited by your government and the Department of National Defense to support your country. We support their objectives of internal peace and security plan called ‘bayanihan’ and that is why we are here," said Commander Joe Harder. 

Harder added: “We don’t work with our objectives alone, we work with our partners.”

The MOU states that the US Government will perform their quality assurance while the Civil Action Detail (CAD), Philippines will do the periodic construction progress reports for submission to DSWD.

Jabagat expressed her deepest gratitude to the leadership of the US Navy for the new established partnership.

The US Navy intends to complete the renovation and repairs of the following DSWD-7 centers; Home for Girls Dormitory,Persons with Disabilities Dormitory, Regional Haven, Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center (AVRC II) and the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY).(rmn/jsme/PIA-Cebu/DSWD-7)
