Cebu, September 24 (PIA) ---- The
Kapisanan ng mga Brodkster ng Pilipinas (KBP) – Cebu commits to support the
advocacy of a clean and just election 2016 through ethical and right media
conduct.
In a recent forum on ‘Dos and Don’ts
for Political Ads in the Broadcast Media for the 2016 Election’, Atty Ruphil
Bañoc former KBP-Cebu president and current Radio Mindanao Network – Cebu DYHP
station manage said that KBP Cebu is strictly implementing the KBP Code of
Election.
One of the articles of the KBP Code
- Article 8 or the Political Propaganda is adapted from the Republic Act 9006
or the Fair Election Act.
Bañoc added that KBP is following
this article and have their self regulations on ethical practices pertaining to
elections and do not wait for legislators to teach them.
He said KBP Cebu is keen on
laws and bills pertaining to election that touched the freedom of expression.
“KBP is vigilant in questioning laws and bills pertaining to freedom of
expression,” Bañoc stressed.
He also noted that KBP is strictly
following the Election Code fairly for clean and honest election, giving fair
treatment to each and every candidate and respecting the rights of the
candidates and the voters.
With regards to informing the public
Bañoc said KBP is strictly practicing the difference between news and
political advertisement.
He said to ensure honest and just
practice among each and every media practitioner they include the block timers
that must follow the KBP Code on elections.
The recent forum on ‘Dos and Don’ts
for Political Ads in the Broadcast Media for the 2016 Election’ is a joint
effort of the KBP-Cebu and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA-7)
that intended to inform the youth and the public on the prohibitions of
media on elections and the right ethics media should be practice
on elections.
Top officials from the
Commission on Election (COMELEC) Cebu also discussed the importance of
