DUMAGUETE CITY, September 22
(PIA) -- Victorias Milling Company’s (VMC) third inter-school art
competition declared recently the top three pre-judging winning artworks.
Each of the winning pieace are from
the college, elementary, and high school categories in the city.
Six winners from the 21 entries will
represent Negros Oriental during the final judging on October 2 in Bacolod
City.
VMC's competition theme “We
Are One!” is in line with its thrusts of values, unity, and
collaboration not just in the workplace but also in the communities, according
to Ma. Esther Espina, PR/Events coordinator for VMC.
For college category, Shiela Mae
Caliguid of Metro Dumaguete College won top place, followed by Karlo Billy
Rubia of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) for the second spot, and
third placer Irah Kaye Osumo, also of NORSU.
The top three winners for the
elementary/high school categories include Isabel Marchelle Loneliz of
Immaculate Heart Academy of Tanjay City who won first place; John Raymond
Enolpe, Dumaguete City Central Elementary School, 2nd place ; and Mitch
Vincent Ganon, Bais City National High School, third place.
This part of VMC’s advocacy to
discover talented visual artists, VMC expands its search to the whole of Negros
Island in celebration of our recent unification as the Negros Island Region.
VMC expanded its competition last
year to students all over Negros Occidental, and again this year in Negros
Oriental.
Cash prizes are at stake including a
computer showcase for schools of the winning artists belonging in the
Elementary and High School categories while the NIR Tertiary category winner
will bring home P30,000 in cash.
Winning entries will grace the 2016
corporate calendar of VMC and will be featured in its website.
Invited to the first pre-judging of
the VMC Inter-School Art competition were renowned local artists and those
involved in the arts, namely, Kristina Taniguchi, Danny Sollesta, Susan Canoy,
Ramon del Prado, Antonio Wenceslao, and Provincial Tourism Council
